Church Wedding Decorations

In a traditional wedding ceremony, nothing except the vows themselves are more important than the church decorations. A traditional, sophisticated wedding?s decorations add not only an aesthetic feeling, but also one of tradition. The atmosphere of the sanctuary must be kept formal, elegant, and balanced; decorations are a large part of that.

Decoration Ideas For A Wedding

Decoration Designs for a Church Wedding: Churches provide many places to express your wedding design: the aisle, pews, altar, church door, entryway and ceiling can all be decorated. Most brides have a theme that they use throughout all of the decorations. And, many are creative, using even adhesive backed vinyl so that no surface is impossible to personalize. All brides wish their wedding to be memorable, therefore the decorations need to be unique and stick out in the guests' minds. Typical traditional decorations are lace, pearls, flowers, candles and crystals, though a bride can be creative and say, decorate with the couples' names or add a bit of color. The decorations should never inconvenience the guest by being taking up too much space, and surely should not invade the sanctuary of the church by being gaudy, inappropriate, or offensive.

Decoration Ideas for a Church Wedding: Just about any church decoration idea you come up with can be made fantastic with a little work. The most common decoration would be flowers. Flowers can add to any sort of atmosphere depending on the type. Wild flowers can add freshness, like daisies. More solemn looking flowers can add peace and tranquility.

Unique and beautiful vases and pots allow you to put flowers anywhere, and can be beautiful even alone. If an exotic look is wanted, lilies and orchids can be used on the aisle. Also, first impressions do stick, so don't neglect the doorway - add a potted plant outside, or a garland to the door. Pew decorations are important and often require some creativity beyond flowers. Ribbons, tulle and garlands may be required to hold decorations to the pews.

Fabric of gossamer or organza can also be attached along the length of the entire pew.  A specific seasonal example would be to attach Christmas tree ornaments to the pews with satin or silk ribbon for a trendy, seasonally coordinated look. Even walls can be decorated; breathtaking tulle swags are not hard to assemble. Also, balloons are not just for children.

A wonderful arch can be created with minimal effort as the helium allows the arch to hold itself up. Also, do not neglect ribbons, streamers, pomander balls, and other nick-knacks that may fit with your decor ideas. Do not neglect the entryway. A warm, welcoming table with small favors, directions to the reception and the ceremony proceedings can entertain the guests and relieve stress. Of course most brides have a theme, and do not neglect it for fear of the ceremony not appearing to match the reception.

Whether your theme is hearts, a specific color, trees, winter, fairytales, the beach, or something crazy like cowboys/wild west, go for it. Churches are becoming much more lenient. For example, an Asian-themed wedding could incorporate Japanese lantern and exotically-colored Thai silk scarves on the pew ends. Beach-themed weddings could scatter shells across tables, or a fairytale wedding could use lots of organza ribbon and tiny glass slippers. Tradition can be respected while still making you wedding a unique one. Do not be afraid to add a personal touch.

Whatever you decide, your decorations will be sure to put your guests at ease, display your personal taste, and of course make the guests remember your wedding as one of the most lovely they have ever seen. After all, this wedding is all about you!
