Choosing Blue Flowers for Your Wedding
Choosing blue flowers for decoration purposes at weddings has recently become an extremely popular trend. The colour blue has always been a universal favourite and the practice of incorporating it into flower arrangements for wedding decoration has become widespread in recent times. Using blue flowers at a wedding allows one to create a variety of emotions and moods, ranging from soft, subtle feelings to uniquely bold settings. If you use small, delicate blue flowers in cool hues, perhaps intermingled with some white blossoms, the effect of tranquillity and serenity will be created for sure. However, combining blue flowers with flowers in warmer shades like red or orange is an effective way of creating a bold yet tasteful setting.
The colour blue is often associated with emotions of rapture, ecstasy and elation, all of which are witnessed at a wedding as well. The colour helps to capture the high spirits of a wedding ceremony and displays it perfectly through the petals. Also, the colour is immediately associated with images of the seas and the skies, both expansive domains, thus becoming symbolic of concepts such as hope, growth, opportunities and the chance of an exciting life ahead.

There are a number of flowers that come in shades of blue. These include sweet peas, clematis, nigella thistles and cornflowers. Sadly, the universally favourite rose is not available in blue naturally. However, if you are determined to use roses in the flower arrangements at your wedding, an extremely attractive way of doing so would be to combine other flowers is tones of blue with white roses, so as to create a serene yet striking combination. Blue flowers come in a variety of shades, ranging from light, pale blue to indigo. Deeper shades should be offset with flowers in white or cream while lighter shades of blue can be complemented with blooms in brighter colours like pink.
Blue blossoms have also become very popular for bouquets, combined with white, peach and pink flowers, creating a one of a kind impression.
The symbolism associated with the colour makes it extremely appropriate to be used in wedding settings. It is a cool colour, describing strengths such as calmness, quietude, dignity and determination. The colour also signifies qualities such as loyalty, trust and faith which are fundamental in building interpersonal bonds. Thus, the blue blossom is a tribute to the bride and the groom.
